Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression seem to be reaching epidemic proportions in our modern, high pressure, disconnected world. Whilst there are often many factors at play, what we eat, what we don’t eat and when we eat can all have a major impact on mood, energy levels, hormones, sleep and overall health.

Nutrient deficiencies or imbalances are common and these can also affect how we feel leading to brain chemistry imbalances, mood issues and cravings. Food is often used (and misused) to soothe depression and anxiety but it is an equally powerful tool to heal and balance the mind.

For the best possible health we need balance, optimal digestion and healthy detoxification abilities. We also need to address the causes of stress in our lives and  look at lifestyle habits which will be positive and supportive. Exercise is wonderful for improving mood and overall health and in some studies, has been as or more effective than medical interventions.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness can help us to improve our relationship with food by using a few simple techniques which bring our attention back to what we are doing. It is simple and everyone can do it. Many of us eat our food on the go or whilst thinking about other things, hardly taking any notice of what we are putting in to fuel our bodies. Mindfulness takes away anxiety about the future and immerses us in the joy of the tastes, textures, smells and experience of the food we eat as we eat it.  It reconnects us to the innate joy of eating and, when the connection to eating has been lost and disordered, it helps us to remember what 'normal' eating is like.

WE ADDRESS MIND AND MOOD ISSUES USING NUTRITION, FUNCTIONAL TESTING AND LIFESTYLE ADVICE.
