Amino Acid Profile
Amino acids, known as the “building blocks” of proteins, are found in EVERY tissue of the body. They play a major role in nearly every chemical process that affects both physical and mental function including the formation of ligaments, tendons, bones, as well as antibodies and regulation of enzymes and blood transport proteins. Twenty different amino acids are used to synthesise proteins.
This test, utilising either a simple blood spot or a urine collection in the comfort of your own home, shows us your levels of amino acids which give us an idea of deficiencies if any exist. Deficiencies can help explain many health concerns from depression, anxiety or immune concerns to physical and musculoskeletal issues.
It is difficult to underplay the importance of amino acids to our everyday health. If deficiencies or imbalances do exist, simple dietary changes, especially in protein intake, are usually enough to rectify these. Supplements can also be very helpful.
